Optical patterns and animal prints.

Roberto Cavalli is the main line of the Maison founded by the Florentine designer of the same name, nephew of one of the greatest exponents of the Macchiaiolo movement, which in 1970 presents for the first time a Roberto Cavalli collection at the Salon du Prêt-à-Porter in Paris. Over the years, the designer applies to his creations, his family knowledge and the preparation of the school on textile painting applications. He orients his interest in the washings and treatments of fabrics, and towards the color mix, focusing on glamor and original fashion, with an eccentric and provocative style, which offers unconventional, sophisticated and sexy outfits for him and her. Colorful chemisiers, asymmetric mini dresses, wide gitane-chic skirts and coats with showy fur collars, in precious fabrics and leathers, declining a luxury with a crystalline and wild charm. From the very beginning Cavalli collaborates with well-known Italian knitwear, making floral prints on knitwear, and then extending the range of "signature" to patchwork details, geometric leather inserts, optical patterns and animal prints, which will become the stylistic signature of the Maison, characterized by a recognizable image strongly characterized by the style of Roberto Cavalli. In the early seventies Hermés and Pierre Cardin took an interest in his work. In the same period Cavalli invented and patented an innovative printing process on leather, starting to create patchwork of materials and colors. Cavalli achieved great successes and in 1972 he inaugurated the first Saint Tropez boutique. In 1994 Cavalli presents aged jeans with a "sand-jet" treatment on the Milan catwalks; at the end of the '90s his collections are requested by celebrities and are appreciated all over the world. Next to the first "Roberto Cavalli" line are created: the young "Just Cavalli" line, the "Angels & Devils" brand, for the little ones, and the "Class" brand.
